Good Thing You Feel STUCK!

Not feeling it anymore?

Perhaps you have a successful career, a gorgeous family, a picket fence and a Golden Retriever…BUT…

The gratitude lists, guided meditations and hot yoga classes are simply not helping you get out of what feels like limbo.

You’re not alone.

In fact, what we’ve come to know by doing this work ourselves and having worked with leaders and extraordinary humans from all over the world is that this stuckness feeling finds us all at some point. It’s what we do with it that makes all the difference.

The Power of Stuck

Seems strange, that title.

Well, that’s because most of us think our stuckness is a sign that we’ve failed in some way - we’ve hit our peak and a ceiling at the same time.

But let’s reframe…

Think about your last year of school… On the verge of being set free into the big, wide world, but not there quite yet. There is still a whole year of studying to do before you get there. Remember how suffocating and infuriating it feels to be trapped inside a context you feel you’ve outgrown?

Well, my friend, if you’ve been thinking to yourself recently:

There’s got to be more to life.’ OR

‘I wonder how many reports I am away from a breakdown?’ OR

‘I just don’t feel excited about this anymore.’

Congratulations! It’s like you’re 18 again. And… you might be stuck.

Only, you think you shouldn’t be. So, what could be filled with anticipation and excitement for what is to come, you’ve shrunk into disappointment, resignation and apathy.

Sound familiar?

Choosing The Game

It’s time to take on a beginner’s mindset!

‘I feel stuck’ is simply our biology telling us we’ve outgrown our current context and it’s time for a shift!

We don’t know where we’re going next. Our lives took a 360-degree turn and, much to the disappointment of our 18-year-old selves, we’ve got bills to pay and butternut squash to wash off of our white blouse…

Ever consider that the contexts in which we live were designed for us, by us?

At some point, we decided on the routines and habits that keep our lives operating as they are today. Why? Because they served us well, protected us and kept us stable and sane. But today? Not so much anymore. Today, we feel trapped.

Perhaps, we could get curious about which habitual loops leave us feeling drained and unexcited about life…

  • What have these loops protected us from in the past?

  • What might staying in these familiar loops do for us now?

  • What are we afraid we’ll face if we let them go?

Let’s Play…

If the 18-year-old you had to step into your life right now and imagine everything they thought could be possible for your future… What might they say?

Think about what dreams, goals and aspirations you had?

What was fun for you at that age?

You were full of them, and life was full of possibility!

Fast forward to now…

As adults, we lose sight of those dreams and forget that our lives can be quite fun if we get out of our own way every now and then.

What opportunities might you create inside your life if you looked at your future through a lens of possibility?

Likely, the younger versions of ourselves envisioned future possibilities that seem completely absurd to us now. And, here’s the thing, getting ourselves unstuck and creating the kind of future that feels extraordinary, even unbelievable, doesn’t come from doing more or from trying harder and harder. It comes from becoming someone different.

That takes reinvention, the kind that reimagines what’s possible by redefining who we say we are. The kind that asks more than what we want. It asks who we’re willing to become to live a life that astonishes even us.

So, here’s our invitation…

Think back to when you were a child…

What did you dream of becoming? Did you want to be an astronaut, a helicopter pilot, a firefighter, a historian, a lawyer (just me?) - the list goes on!

Now, write down the list!

Take it in. Are you any of those humans today?

What might it take for you to try on becoming one of them, even just for a little while?

We encourage you to play around with some seemingly impossible possibilities for your life, and then, actually act on them!

Motorbike riding on Route 66? Starting your own business? Giving a speech at the UN? Painting your artworks on ceilings in coffee shops around the world? Home schooling your children?

The time is now!

The Future is Spoken

Before anything is built, it is spoken.
Before a role is filled, it is shared.
Before a future is lived, it is declared.

In the same way a business starts with a pitch.
A movement starts with a message.
A relationship starts with a conversation.

Our next chapter starts when we clarify, to ourselves and to the world around us, what it is we’ve chosen to walk into and walk away from.

We create possibilities for our lives by being willing to shed the roles, the identities and the narratives we’ve outgrown. From seeing ourselves as a canvas, not a statue. From being bold enough to ask:

Who am I willing to become today to access the extraordinary in my life?
